The rule vs embassy practice

Official DTV pages consistently ask for financial evidence at the mission's local equivalent of 500,000 THB, but the evidence period is not uniform. The live checklist of the embassy or consulate processing the application is the source to follow, and a mission may request additional documents.

New central documents from 31 August 2026

The Department of Consular Affairs notice checked 29 August 2026 replaces the former current-location document with proof of permanent residence and adds a criminal-record clearance certificate for DTV applications from 00:00 Thailand time on 31 August 2026. Applications submitted before that date continue under the previous requirements.

This central change does not create a universal bank-statement period. Continue to follow the processing mission's current financial-evidence and translation instructions; see the full dated DTV document update.

What the checked mission pages do not establish

No current official Vientiane source was located for a universal three-month rule.

There is no single Europe-or-United-States evidence period: Washington currently specifies three months, Budapest specifies six, and Los Angeles uses recent-statement wording.

The checked pages do not establish automatic refusal outcomes for mobile screenshots, fresh deposits, name mismatches or currency buffers.

The checked DTV lists do not establish a universal medical-insurance requirement.

A defensible application strategy

Open the selected mission's DTV page immediately before applying. Supply the exact statement period and account type it requests, keep the required balance visible for every month where the wording says “each month,” and include the workcation, soft-power, or dependent evidence listed for your route. A longer history may be useful context, but it is not a universal legal seasoning rule.

After DTV approval — Pattaya landing

The DTV permits a stay of up to 180 days per entry within its five-year multiple-entry validity, as described by the Thai MFA. In-country reporting, extension, and tax questions are separate from the overseas visa checklist; use the dedicated guides rather than treating bank-statement evidence as proof of those rules.

Mission instructions vary by passport and place of application. Check the issuing post's current checklist before assembling the bank evidence.

Multi-currency accounts

Official missions publish local-currency equivalents on some pages. The checked sources do not establish a universal conversion method, acceptance of split-currency accounts, or a required exchange-rate buffer. Confirm those points directly with the issuing post.

Freelancer proof pack

Washington, Los Angeles, and Moscow accept an employment contract or certificate or a professional portfolio for the workcation route; follow the exact alternatives on your post's checklist. The checked pages do not establish a universal invoice period or tax-return requirement.
