Start your Thai e-Visa with the right mission.

Thai e-Visa is the official online visa-application channel. Choose the visa purpose and the embassy or consulate responsible for your location and circumstances. Follow that mission’s current evidence instructions, upload clear documents and track requests through the official process. Visa issuance and the Immigration decision on arrival remain separate.

Choose the processing mission first

The official Thai e-Visa user manual describes the account and application workflow. The portal is not a universal evidence checklist for every nationality and location. Check the responsible embassy’s current jurisdiction and location requirements before completing the application.

For example, Budapest’s current Non-B instructions explicitly connect the processing mission with consular jurisdiction and residency. Treat that as a mission example, not an assurance that applicants anywhere can select Budapest.

Use the real purpose of the trip

Tourism, study, a Thai spouse, retirement, employment and DTV activities are separate purposes with different evidence owners. Begin with the visa-route index when you need to identify the category. A longer permitted stay is not a reason to choose a purpose that does not match the actual trip.

Keep the application location, passport identity and intended activity consistent with the supporting documents. An invitation or enrolment letter does not by itself establish that every condition of the visa category has been met.

Prepare readable evidence, then follow requests

Kuala Lumpur’s TR page asks for clear JPEG or PDF uploads and warns that incomplete or unclear files can lead to further-document requests. It also reserves the ability to request additional evidence. Its time advice and translation rules belong to that mission’s process.

  1. Read the current mission checklist for the exact category.
  2. Prepare readable files matching the requested document, rather than a screenshot of an unrelated record.
  3. Check the entered information against the passport and evidence before submission.
  4. Follow further-document requests through the official process and keep the final decision.

After a visa is issued

Read the validity, entry conditions and purpose on the visa. On arrival, check the actual permission-to-stay record. The date guide explains why a visa expiry and an admitted-until date are not interchangeable.

A visa application is also different from the TDAC arrival card. Neither this guide nor the site’s private planning tools creates an application, obtains a visa or guarantees admission. Use the government portal for the actual transaction; no passport upload is collected here.
