Your visa expiry and your stay deadline are different dates.
Visa validity is the period in which you can use the visa to seek entry. Permission to stay is the period granted by Immigration after admission or extension. These dates can differ. Use the admitted-until record for the current stay, and check re-entry requirements before leaving Thailand with an existing permission.

Read the two clocks separately
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa questions and answers distinguishes a visa’s validity from the permission granted on entry. A valid visa does not by itself guarantee admission. Read both the visa and the actual admission record, rather than treating a visa expiry date as a universal departure deadline.
A concrete example appears in Kuala Lumpur’s single-entry TR guidance: a three-month validity period to enter, followed by a stay of up to 60 days counted from entry. These are different periods serving different purposes. The embassy’s processing advice is an example for its jurisdiction, not a worldwide service guarantee.
What an extension changes
An extension application asks Immigration to alter the permitted stay under a specific category. It does not turn every underlying visa into a new multiple-entry visa. Use the current forms guide to distinguish an extension application from a report or re-entry application.
Do not add a projected extension to a personal travel calendar as if it had already been approved. Check the actual endorsement and any instructions attached to it. If the record appears wrong, the handling authority must resolve it; a website calculator cannot change a stamp.
Check before departure
A re-entry permit can preserve the remaining period of an existing temporary stay when required. It does not add days. Its role is different from using a valid multiple-entry visa to request a fresh admission. The re-entry guide explains the distinction and the official application fees.
Keep the current permission, travel dates and visa entry conditions together. Some programmes have their own published travel arrangements, so use the relevant visa-route guide rather than one rule for all holders.
Reporting receipts do not replace a stay endorsement
TM47 address reporting and TM30 accommodation reporting serve different reporting duties. Neither is an extension of stay. A reporting receipt’s next appointment is not a replacement for the admitted-until date.
Before visiting Immigration, identify which record you need to change. The Jomtien office guide separates the services and the local facts that can be checked officially.
