For most non-immigrant visas (Non-O retirement, Non-O marriage, Non-B business, Non-ED education, O-A long-stay), you must apply at a Thai embassy or consulate in your country of nationality or country of legal residence. The DTV, LTR, and Privilege Visa have different application paths (DTV via e-Visa portal, LTR via BOI online, Privilege via membership office).

Each embassy listing shows the official address, phone, email, application hours, and online application URL where applicable. Many Thai embassies now require online application via Thai e-Visa portal (thaievisa.go.th) — you complete the form online, then visit (or mail documents to) the embassy for the visa stamp.

What documents to bring
Standard requirements for any Thai visa application at an embassy:
- Passport with 6+ months validity remaining
- Completed visa application form (downloadable from each embassy site, or online via e-Visa portal)
- Recent passport-size photo (4×6 cm)
- Round-trip flight ticket or onward travel proof
- Hotel booking confirmation
- Bank statement (varies by visa: ฿20k for tourist, ฿800k for retirement, ฿400k for marriage)
- Visa-specific supporting documents (employer letter for Non-B, marriage cert for Marriage Non-O, school letter for Education ED, etc.)
- Visa fee in cash or money order (varies: $35-$200 USD)
Online application — the e-Visa portal
Most modern Thai embassies now process visa applications via thaievisa.go.th. You complete forms, upload documents, pay online. The visa is then either mailed to you or you collect from the embassy. Average processing 5-15 working days. Read our TR e-Visa guide for the full process.
What to do if there\'s no Thai embassy in your country
If your country has no Thai diplomatic mission, you typically apply at the Thai embassy in a neighboring country, or the Thai embassy that has been designated as covering your country. For example, the UK embassy covers Ireland; the Stockholm embassy covers some Baltic states; the Hong Kong consulate handles Macau.
