Apply for most Thai long-stay visas from your home country or country of legal residence before travelling. Pattaya has no foreign embassies — Bangkok missions are 90–120 minutes north. Use the e-Visa portal (thaievisa.go.th) where available; some consulates still require in-person appointments. Always verify current requirements on the embassy website before booking flights.

Some consulates (notably US and UK) have additional in-person steps for certain categories. Save PDF approval letter — required at check-in and immigration.
What to do if there\'s no Thai embassy in your country
If your country has no Thai diplomatic mission, you typically apply at the Thai embassy in a neighboring country, or the Thai embassy that has been designated as covering your country. For example, the UK embassy covers Ireland; the Stockholm embassy covers some Baltic states; the Hong Kong consulate handles Macau.
