TM30 and TM47 report different things.
TM30 is the accommodation notification made by the householder, owner, possessor or hotel manager under Section 38. TM47 is the address report required after more than 90 continuous days under the standard reporting system. Completing one does not replace the other, and neither application extends permission to stay in Thailand.

Two duties, with different responsible people
The Immigration accommodation handbook names the householder, owner, possessor or hotel manager. The guest is not automatically the duty holder merely because the guest holds the passport. A tenant may be the possessor on the facts; the office determines what evidence establishes that role.
By contrast, TM47 reporting concerns the foreign national’s continuous stay and current address. Programme-specific annual systems, including LTR and SMART, must be checked separately. Do not apply the standard TM47 cycle to every visa label without checking the route.
What triggers the check?
| Question | TM30 | TM47 |
|---|---|---|
| What is reported? | The accommodation of a foreign national | The address during a continuous stay over 90 days |
| Who starts with the duty? | The person in a Section 38 role | The foreign national under the applicable reporting system |
| Does it extend the stay? | No | No |
The accommodation duty normally involves a notification within 24 hours. The published same-premises return exception is narrower than a blanket exemption from all future TM30 notifications. The TM30 guide keeps that rule and its official Gazette source together.
After travelling or moving
A move to different accommodation and a departure followed by re-entry are different events. Check the accommodation notifier’s position, the current reporting record and the latest arrival details. Do not assume that a hotel’s TM30 receipt updates a separate TM47 reporting appointment.
The official 90-day public handbook counts a new period from the latest arrival after departure and re-entry. Online-channel eligibility is a separate check; this page does not infer that every new arrival can use the portal immediately.
Keep the records separate
- Keep accommodation reporting evidence with the relevant address and stay.
- Keep the latest address-report receipt and its next date separately.
- Read the permission-to-stay endorsement for the stay deadline.
- Use the responsible Chonburi office for an unmatched record, rather than treating one receipt as a substitute for another.
The date guide explains why none of these reporting dates replaces the actual stay deadline.
